The Thames is a redundant space, which is not being utilized as part of the urban fabric. Woolwich’s history is heavily influenced by the River, however, more recently the City has lost its connection.

 

The project aims to link Woolwich and the Thames back together again. The intervention links and supplies a series of underground and over ground bathing pools and public spaces The intervention deals with time, tide and the rituals of the everyday as well as yearly events.

 

Woolwich Waters undertakes a transformation from an industrial and traffic junctions which connect Woolwich to North Woolwich and also to the rest of the city. The bath design  has emerged out of the desire to extend the Thames path way and connect the main infrastructures that inhabit the Woolwich Thames.  The proposition realises the transition from land to water as a series of spaces that respond to existing structures and the fluctuating tide.
